Immigration advice

Before deciding, a plan: which legal routes are available to you, where to start and what to prepare while still in your country.

02What it is

A plan before the first application

Immigration advice is a conversation with the lawyer to assess your situation and map the possible legal routes to living in Portugal. It helps you make an informed decision before spending time on unsuitable applications.

The assessment produces an order of work: where to start, what to prepare in the country of origin and which decisions depend on facts that are not yet settled.

03How we support you

From conversation to plan.

Loose papers are organised into two columns: where to start and what to prepare.

  1. Step 01/04

    Conversation

We listen to your goal, your situation and your questions.

  2. Step 02/04

    Route map

We set out the possible legal routes and what each requires.

  3. Step 03/04

    Order of steps

We establish where to start and what comes later.

  4. Step 04/04

    Preparation

We indicate what to prepare, including documents to obtain while still in your country of origin.

04What to prepare

Making the conversation more useful

These items help, but are not a condition for arranging a conversation. They may vary depending on the case.

  1. 01Identity documents for those moving
  2. 02Information on family and employment circumstances
  3. 03Civil status certificates you already have
  4. 04A summary of what you intend to do in Portugal
  5. 05The questions you want answered

Documents may vary depending on the case.

05When to seek support

When it makes sense to seek advice

  • When you are thinking of moving to Portugal and do not know where to start.

  • When there is more than one possible route and you want to compare them.

  • When you have tried on your own and are unsure what is missing.

  • When the decision involves the family and needs joint planning.

06Frequently asked questions

Questions about immigration advice

General answers. Your case may have particularities that only an assessment with the lawyer can clarify.

01What happens during the advice session?

It is a conversation in which we assess your situation and identify legal routes. By the end, it is clear where to start and what to prepare.

02Is the advice session in person or online?

Either is possible. We welcome clients at the Porto office and support those in another city or country online.

03Do I need to bring documents?

Having identity documents and some certificates to hand helps, but is not a condition for booking. During the conversation we explain what to gather.

04Does the advice session commit me to making an application?

No. It helps you make an informed decision; the decision to proceed is always yours.
